Kiwanis and CPYF Kids Cookbook Fundraiser

The Calgary Police Youth Foundation is excited to partner with our friends at the Kiwanis Northmount Club to create a kid’s cookbook full of fun, family friendly recipes! This great cookbook will be available in Fall 2021 and all sales proceeds will be split between the two organizations.
Have a great recipe you think we should include? Email the recipe to CPYF@CalgaryPolice.ca! Please include the name of the child, a bit of history about the recipe, the degree of difficulty, and level of supervision needed along with the ingredients and instructions. Submissions for the cookbook will be accepted until November 27th.
Kid friendly jokes, cooking tips and inspirational quotes are also welcomed!

The Youth at Risk Development (YARD) program is a community-based, early intervention initiative that supports youth ages 10-17 that are currently at risk, affiliated with a gang, or involved in gang activity. Delivered in partnership by the Calgary Police Service (CPS), the City of Calgary – Calgary Neighbourhoods (CN), and Alberta Health Services (AHS), YARD assists these youth in avoiding or leaving the gang lifestyle.
In September, the Youth At Risk Development Program released their 2019 Annual Report. Here are some of the key findings and highlights from last year:

Program Highlights
In 2019, YARD’s program model was revised to update outcomes in a few key areas: improved interpersonal relationships, increased life skills, improved mental health and wellness, and increased prosocial skills.
To help achieve these goals, the Youth At Risk Development Program hosted over 12 recreation and development events, attended by over 100 youth, along with 9 events held throughout the summer months. These events allow clients to build relationships with their YARD teams, occupy their time in a constructive way, learn new skills and associate with positive peer groups – ultimately helping them to escape or avoid the gang lifestyle.
Client Profile

The Calgary Police Youth Foundation’s purpose is to educate youth about good citizenship, safe communities, policing and avoiding victimisation and criminality. We do this by funding six child-youth programs delivered by the Calgary Police Service and other community partners focused on education, prevention, and early intervention.
This year has been challenging for everyone and the charitable sector has experienced a greater demand for support as lives and livelihoods across the world were impacted by the pandemic. Many charities, including our own, have experienced declining revenues from cancelled fundraising events and that is why we are asking friends of the Calgary Police Youth Foundation to join our Promising Futures monthly giving program! If you need a reason to sign up today, here are five!
- Sign up is EASY – Sign up online with your credit card or by filling out the donation slip at the bottom of this page.
- Donations Add Up – Small monthly contributions add up to a larger donation over time and you will receive an annual Tax Receipt.
- Convenience – Donations are withdrawn automatically from your preferred account so you don’t need to remember to donate every month.
- Continuous – Regular monthly donations provide future funding so we know we will always be able to keep children and youth safe.
- Customizability – Donors can select any donation amount, large or small, that fits within their budget and designate their donation to a Program of their choice.
