A Letter from Cadet Janzen

I would like to start off with thank you. This corps has given me so much and I wish I could return the favour tenfold. This corps has become more than just a Thursday night activity. It has become a second family to me. A place to live, to breathe and be the best me I could hope for. The friends I have made here are more than just occupational friends who I won’t see after this year ends. The friends I made here are more than that, they are my family, they are some of the best people I could have in my life.

Cadets have also given me a chance to become confident in my own abilities, to take initiative, to lead, to inspire others the way the corps inspired me. Every day I am thankful for the skills cadets has given me. The respect, self-discipline, compassion towards others, all of these increased because of cadets. It has given me so many opportunities to grow.

I won’t lie, it hasn’t always been sunshine and smiles. There were lows and there were highs, but you don’t truly cant understand happiness until its gone. Now understanding that I may not come back really does highlight how much it had meant to me. All things begin and all things end, which in theory is nice, but I don’t think I could ever be ready for the end of all of this. So thank you, thank you for all the memories, all the love, all the joy, and all the opportunity to be better than I was yesterday.

To finish off I would like to say one thing to all the cadets that still have a few years left in the corps, cherish the moments you have. Right now it seems like it will last forever but next thing you know you are a gold leaf at year-end camp. It goes by so fast so don’t take these moments you have for granted.

Thank you,

Deepest regards

Janzen
