Paws for Compassion Recap

In its inaugural year, the Paws for Compassion campaign co-hosted by the Calgary Police Foundation and the Pacific Assistance Dogs Society (PADS) SOLD OUT!

This exciting, playful and new fundraising campaign celebrated the Calgary Police Service’s two Justice Facility Dogs, Hawk and Calibri during Calgary Police Foundation Week June 1 – 9.

Hawk and Calibri support the Calgary Victim Assistance Support Team in comforting and assisting victims of crime who face overwhelming situations such as testifying, court appearances, traumatic incidents, and other related stressful situations.  They are true heroes.

Cali, one of two CPS Justice Facility Dogs, patiently looks on while the TV cameras and news reporters capture her guarding her custom designed Jelly Modern Doughnut for the inaugural campaign.

Jelly Modern Doughnuts, recently named Calgary’s Best Doughnut Shop, jumped on board as the major sponsor. Their pastry chef’s custom designed a doughnut available for online pre-orders, with proceeds shared equally between CPF and PADS. Hawk and Calibri came from PADS where they received their initial training before joining the Calgary Police Service. It was a fun campaign celebrating “Doughnuts for Heroes”.

Corporations and individuals pre-ordered their Jelly Modern Donuts, with delivery by CPF and PADS volunteers. Before the last day of selling even closed, the campaign had sold out.  “We can’t thank the public and the many corporations who got behind this wonderful new campaign enough,” says Marla Cohen, Executive Director of CPF.  “We definitely will be back next year with Paws For Compassion.  Because We Care.”
